Wolf’s Challenge

Book 1 in the Stranger Creatures Series

By Christina Lynn Lambert

When Sydney left Seattle two years ago, she was scared, traumatized, and done with men for good. Wolf's Challenge by Christina Lynn Lambert www.sorchiadubois.comNow she has a good job, a hobby that’s fast becoming a second career, and best of all, she’s adopted a little girl named Angel. Life is good and Sydney’s not about to let charming lawyer Derrick mess that up, no matter how sexy he is, or how sweet he seems.

Things aren’t always as they appear in the town of Great Oaks, Virginia. Derrick isn’t the ladies’ man Sydney thinks he is, but he does have a few secrets, such as his ability to transform into a powerful wolf at will.

Can Derrick convince Sydney to give him a chance, something more than her elusive maybe? More importantly, should he? He’s still trying to forgive himself for being at the wheel during the accident that killed his son. Losing Sydney when she learns the truth might break him, but he’s pretty sure not having her in his life would be just as bad.

A troubled woman running from her guilty conscience has Sydney and Derrick in her cross-hairs, and she’ll do whatever it takes to win her game. Will Sydney and Derrick survive long enough to be together?

The Strange Town of Great Oaks_The Setting for Wolf’s Challenge

by Christina Lynn Lambert

I set Wolf’s Challenge and most of the other books in my Stranger Creatures series in the fictional town of Great Oaks, Virginia. I have lived in beautiful Virginia all of my life. My home state has beaches to the east and mountains to the west. Throughout the state are countless parks, hiking trails, rivers, and streams. There’s always something fun to do outside no matter the season.

When I started writing Wolf’s Challenge, I imagined the hero, Derrick, having grown up near the mountains and camping under the stars. After he lost his son in a car accident and got divorced, Derrick moved to the once desolate former factory town of Great Oaks to get a fresh start. Sydney moved across the country to Great Oaks for a fresh start too. The town, with its plethora of forestland and streams, was unlike the more populated cities she’d lived in before. When Derrick invited Sydney to explore some of the trails at a ruggedly beautiful park, she was inspired by the magic and mystery of the landscape. Little did she know, the wild, wonderful town she’d moved to would be full of some strange but amazing people- shapeshifters, psy, and more.

A Taste of Wolf’s Challenge

Sydney sat in the conference room at Brass Cat Advertising, sipping her coffee and wishing the caramel latte could take her to an alternate reality. One where Derrick Porter wasn’t sitting in front of her. His presence had caught her off guard. She took another sip of her coffee and tried not to stare stupidly, but holy chocolate-covered cherries, the man was hot.

Dark hair and eyebrows made a striking contrast against his strong bone structure and fair skin. His lips, good grief. They looked so soft. His long, lean body fit nicely in a suit. The material stretched over his broad shoulders and came in at the waist. He probably had amazing six-pack abs.

When they’d met Saturday in running group, it hadn’t merely been the fog coupled with Sydney’s exhaustion and two-year streak of celibacy that made Derrick appear so handsome. Even under the bright lights of the conference room, he was gorgeous. What rotten luck that she couldn’t seem to get away from him.

Meet Christina Lynn Lambert

A few years ago, I read my first romance novel and I was hooked, so much so that I decided to giveChristina Lynn Lambert www.sorchiadubois.com the idea of writing a story a chance. Love, courage, hope, and second chances are a few of my favorite themes. My stories include a fair amount of sarcasm, suspense, steam, and violence. When I’m not writing, I enjoy spending time outside and finding ways to avoid cooking. I live in beautiful Virginia with my husband, two daughters, and a sweet, hairy monster of a dog.
